About Philip Goldstein

Having served on the Marietta City Council since 1980, Philip M. Goldstein is the senior member of the Council.

Philip M. Goldstein was first elected when he was 21 years old and is the youngest councilman in Marietta's history to serve on Marietta's City Council.

Chairman of the Council's Judicial-Legislative Committee since 2005 and previously from 1988 to 2002  Philip previously served as Chairman of the Finance/Investment since 2002 to 2005. He also served as Mayor pro tem in 1985 and 1990.

A businessman, he is a former prosecutor in the Cobb County Solicitor General's Office and a practicing attorney.

He holds a B.B.A. from the University of Georgia and a J.D. from John Marshall Law School.

In addition to his service as a Councilman, Philip is active in other areas of the community and serves on several civic boards.

He is a long-time member and former president of the Cobb Municipal Association and the Georgia Municipal Association (GMA) where he previously served on the Board of Directors and as GMA's 3rd District - West President.

His many achievements led to his being named one of only five "Outstanding Young Georgians" in 1995.

Philip and his wife Elise have two sons, Joseph and David.
